with Marcel Van De Vis Heil and Tony Turner
Join Marcel van de Vis Heil and Tony Turner for a unique Yin-yoga opportunity in Perth. If you cannot join us in person, you can now do this training Online. Recordings for each session will be available for 72 hours after the class. This is your chance to learn from one of the first-line assistants of Paul and Suzee Grilley, who are the pioneers of Yin-yoga and Anatomy.
ABOUT MARCEL ~ Marcel has been practising yoga for over 2 decades. Marcel discovered Yoga at a difficult stage in his life and finding the healing benefits of the practice change his life dramatically. He started his journey within the discipline of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and Vipassana meditation, slowly moving into a more static alignment yoga. He then met his teacher - Yin yoga’s founder Paul Grilley and his wife Suzee, who showed him the physical, mental and spiritual uniqueness of everybody. Studying under their guidance, completely transformed his view on asana and meditation practice. Understanding, that we’re all unique and thereby need a unique approach ~ is the message he shares through his teachings. Marcel is an experienced teacher with almost 20 years of teaching and practising, not only weekly classes in his studio in Amsterdam but also running Teacher Training and Workshops internationally. He calls the style of yoga that he teaches, "Functional (Vinyasa) yoga, and it’s all about how to use the poses in the most beneficial way for your unique body, instead of how to try to fit your body into an aesthetic pose"
Marcel has been a long-time gym-goer, but after teaching private yoga clients for a while; helping and observing people with various injuries recover from various injuries, he realised that it could be helpful, in some cases to bring yoga students to the gym, with the idea that weight resistant movements can help them in a faster way. He became a (N.A.S.M.) personal trainer, now combining yoga, meditation and weightlifting to maintain or create a healthy lifestyle. Marcel also practices - Crossfit where he is a level 1 trainer (CF-LV1), boxing and running. He believes that functional multi-disciplined movement practice is the key to maintaining good physical health; combined with healthy food and a good night's rest.
Marcel is known for his strong sweaty functional vinyasa classes, his soft, soothing yin yoga classes and his deep inter-perspective guided Chakra Nyasa Meditations.
ABOUT TONY ~ Tony has been practising yoga for more than 20 years. Due to his demanding work in the film industry, and suffering chronic back problems, he took up Yoga to help him unwind and find a balance in his life. In 2008 he completed a 200hour Teacher Training with Moksha from Yoga Om, mainly focusing on the Ashtanga and Iyengar styles of yoga. Realising he was still very tight in his pelvic area and hips, Tony with the influence of his chiropractor, decided to learn more about the quiet practice of Yin Yoga. Since this discovery, Tony has now studied 550hours in Yin Yoga and Anatomy in Asia and the US with Paul Grilley and is an RYT500 with Yoga Alliance USA. He has taken this amazing knowledge and now teaches Yin Yoga at some of Perth’s most well-known Yoga studios. More recently Tony was a Mentor Teacher for students undertaking Jo Phee and Joe Barnett’s 200hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Bali. Tony also provides Assisted Yin Yoga sessions for private clients to help with their flexibility and is a Registered Reflexologist with the Reflexology Association of Australia (RAA)
