    Event description

Curious about the big questions in life? Join us at a penthouse in Ultimo, a 10 minute walk from UTS for a special Death Café event, for young adults aged 18-25, as part of our annual Dying to Know Day campaign. In this open, respectful and confidential space, you’ll have the opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings about life and death. Facilitated by experienced members of our team, Carolyn and Jordan, this event encourages meaningful conversation on mortality, loss and grief over food and snacks.

    What is a Death Café?

A Death Café is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives, or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session. Since its inception, over 10,000 Death Cafés have taken place globally, helping people to explore death in a relaxed and supportive environment, often over nibbles and tea.

    About Dying to Know Day

We are all impacted by death in our lives.  It might be for the people we love, or it might be our own. Dying to Know Day is an annual public health campaign that aims to empower all Australians to feel more comfortable talking about death, dying and grief. Our mission is to support and inspire individuals in building community around these experiences and breaking down the stigma associated with these conversations.

    What to Expect

Whether you want to share your experiences, ask questions or simply listen, everyone is welcome. Life, death and everything in between. Connect with other young adults over topics that we all experience but rarely have open conversations about. Catering will be provided so bring a hungry stomach.

Let’s come together to break the taboo and build a community where talking about death is a normal and healthy part of life. We look forward to seeing you there!

    Filming

To document the experience, filming will take place before and after the event. If you are interested in being interviewed, please let us know after checking out your tickets. The Death Café will not be filmed as it is a sacred space for conversation.

    Note

This event is not a counseling session or support group. It is a space for open discussion and shared experiences.
