Y11 Chemistry Teachers - Module 1: Properties and Structure of Matter (28/11)

This workshop is designed for teachers new to teaching Year 11 Chemistry plus those who would like to refamiliarise themselves with the content, background theory and make connections across the different Inquiry Questions of Module 1: Properties and Structure of Matter, in the Year 11 Chemistry syllabus. Connections will also be made with other modules. We will be unpacking:

• Properties of Matter
• Atomic structure and atomic mass
• Periodicity
• Bonding

In the process, teachers will be identifying the relevant 'assumed knowledge' for the HSC syllabus.

Workshop Delivered by Chris Keipert

Chris Keipert is an experienced Chemistry teacher at Coffs Harbour Christian Community School, having taught HSC Chemistry for the past 12 years. He has also taught Chemistry at university, teaching 1st and 2nd-year Chemistry subjects as well as the Chemistry Bridging Course at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Chris has been an HSC Marker for the past 8 years in both Senior Marker and Pilot Marker roles.
