How Prizes and Awards can slingshot your research career

Have you heard of prestigious prizes like the Prime Minsters Prize for Science, The Eureka Prizes, Tall Poppy awards, iAwards, UNseco Loreal awards, or others, and wondered  "How do I get one of those?" or "Why do people even bother applying for those?" or "Could I ever get an award like that...?" If so, then this session is for you.

In this session - convened by Emeritus Professor Liz Harry - you will hear from UTS research leaders Distinguished Professor Fang ChenProfessor Saba Bebawi and Dr Jiao Jiao Li about their experience with prestigious prizes and awards. You will hear about their motivations for applying for awards and what prizes and awards have meant for their careers. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask your own questions about prizes and awards to the contributors.

Anyone interested in prizes and awards and the benefits that applying for awards can have on your research career and your broader life goals.

1. Understand the multiple benefits that applying for awards can have on your research career
2. Recognise that there are many motivations for applying for prizes and awards
3. Learn about the support available to you in applying for prizes and awards at UTS
4. Recognise that prize and awards recognition is achievable and obtainable
5. Learn about all the prizes and awards that are available (many more than you think)
