Crafting compelling National Interest Test statements: a practical workshop

Price FREE Get tickets

Event description

In this interactive session, Research Office staff will assist researchers to gain a deeper understanding of the motivations and requirements for the National Interest Test (NIT) statements for Australian Research Council (ARC) applications. NITs have become a critical proposal component which the Minister will personally review before grant approval, and applicants will be given the opportunity to receive one-on-one, personalised feedback from our experienced research support teams.

Through practical exercises, you'll learn how to refine your statements to make them more credible, compelling and captivating. We’ll cover essential strategies for being systematic and concise, focusing on key elements such as impact goals, beneficiaries/end-users, adoption pathways and activities. At the end of the session you’ll have the tools and knowledge needed to craft and refine future NIT statements to enhance your research proposal and increase your chances of success!

This workshop is targeted at researchers shortlisted for ARC Discovery Project (DP25), but is open to the entire UTS research community.

To enable personalised feedback, participants should prepare and bring a draft NIT statement to this session. This session is only available in person and will not be recorded.

This is a UTS Aspire event. UTS Aspire is a program of pan-university research development opportunities led by the Research Capability and Development Team.
