Event description

Learn to make some yummy dishes, popular in the US, then sit down and enjoy them with others!

In our first international cooking class for 2024, we get a taste of the USA with our hosts Destany Kerr & Jen Dearborn. Jen was born in Canada to American parents, and then grew up in NZ. Destany is a newer import, moving to Ashburton from Oklahoma, USA, in early 2022.

Destany will guide us in making the mains. On the menu we have chili dogs, macaroni salad and potato salad. A chili dog is a hot dog, in a bun, topped with beef chili con carne, cheese, onions & other goodies. There will be vegan /vegetarian alternatives to the meat, so vegans and vegetarians can also enjoy chili dogs with yummy toppings!  Please select the appropriate ticket when booking so we know how much of what ingredients we need to buy.

Jen will show us how to make two popular American desserts; Pumpkin Pie and (DF/vegan friendly) Apple Pie

The menu is suitable for meat lovers, vegans, vegetarians and those who are dairy free, but it is not gluten free.

Come along and get some new recipe ideas, learn about another country and enjoy a delicious meal together with others! A filling 2-course meal and a wonderful learning experience for $18.85 is a bit of a bargain don't you think?

Limited to 10 people so get in quick.

This event is one in a series of 'A Taste of... ' cooking classes organised & subsidised by Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and the Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network.
