The Australian Research Funding Landscape” is a series of online workshops delivered by UTS Aspire with the aim of showcasing the diversity of opportunities available to UTS researchers in attracting external research funding.

The series will begin with an overview session, showcasing the breadth of the research funding landscape in Australia. A number of follow-on sessions are offered in subsequent weeks, each providing detailed insights into the different funding types.

This is the registration page for the follow-on session ‘Planting the Seeds for Research Success - Australian grant opportunities for ECRs and MCRs’ convened by Aditi Misra and Carla Rossetti (UTS Research Office).

This hybrid Zoom and face-to-face session is designed to inspire participants to start cultivating their research careers and discover the tools that can help them secure funding.

During the session, UTS researchers will share their seeds for success in acquiring funding to support their research. The presentation will conclude with a live Q&A, where participants can ask the presenters any questions they may have. The panel will consist of:

  • A/Prof Ramona Vijeyarasa, Faculty of Law
  • A/Prof Phillippa Carnemolla, School of Built Environment, Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building
  • Dr Jiao Jiao Li, School of Biomedical Engineeering, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology
  • A/Prof Jiajia Zhou, School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Faculty of Science

Specific learning outcomes:

  • Awareness of the external research environment and how to approach Australian grant funding.
  • Ability to prepare a list of fund sources appropriate to the level of experience.
  • Overview of avenues to find funding and helpful tools.
  • Understanding of appropriate levels of support for ECRs and MCRs in the quest for research grant funding.
