Event description

“The Australian Research Funding Landscape” is a series of online workshops delivered by UTS Aspire with the aim of showcasing the diversity of opportunities available to UTS researchers in attracting external research funding.

The series will begin with an overview session, showcasing the breadth of the research funding landscape in Australia. A number of follow-on sessions are offered in subsequent weeks, each providing detailed insights into the different funding types.

This is the registration page for the follow-on session ‘Applied research: engaging with industry and other clients', convened by Andrew Smith (UTS Research Office).

Fed up with Category 1? Want to make a real impact from your research? Keen to apply your research skills and experience to real-world problems? Interested in leveraging research funding with high success rates? Or just curious to learn more about strong industry & business research engagement?

Then this session is for you!

Federal and state governments are ramping up their support for industry-based research and commercialisation of research. Growing our industry research engagement is also a key aspect of the UTS 2027 Strategy.

But misconceptions abound. Following this session, you will know more about:
• Engaging with industry as a path to real impact
• Leveraging additional research income
• Pitching a proposal to a customer, including structure, pricing, deliverables, publication and intellectual property
• Finding support within UTS for engaging industry and other external partners & clients

This session is face-to-face only, however it may be recorded.
