Description

Most dads want to be there when their daughter needs them. The harder part is knowing what to do when the moment actually arrives.

If her first period happens while she’s with you, would you know what she needs? What should already be in the bathroom? What do the different period products actually do? What do you say without making things awkward? And how do you know when something deserves more attention?

Be Ready Before She Needs You is a practical two-hour session from Dad Mode and Elladee, created specifically for dads and father figures who want to feel more confident supporting their daughters through puberty and periods.

Ellen and Dee from Elladee are Women’s Health Registered Nurses who provide education across puberty, periods, perimenopause, menopause and the stages in between. They’ll bring the expert knowledge; Dad Mode will keep the session practical, relaxed and grounded in the moments dads actually face.

What we’ll cover

PUBERTY
When it can begin, what you may start noticing at home, common myths, what deserves attention and how to have lots of smaller conversations instead of one intimidating “talk”.

PERIODS
What’s actually happening across the whole menstrual cycle, what your daughter might experience and what useful support can look like.

THE BATHROOM DRAWER CHALLENGE
This part is hands-on. You’ll open, compare and understand common period products so you know what they are, what they’re for and what might be useful to already have at home.

WHAT’S NORMAL — AND WHEN TO PAY MORE ATTENTION
Practical guidance from Ellen and Dee about common experiences, things not to automatically dismiss and when it may be worth seeking further advice.

ANONYMOUS Q&A
Ask the questions you may not know how — or want — to ask out loud.

No gotchas. No testing how much Dad doesn’t know. Just an easy way to make some of the information stick.

What you’ll leave with

The aim isn’t to make Dad a women’s-health expert.

It’s to help you leave feeling more prepared to:

  • understand what may be happening

  • know what period products actually are and what to keep at home

  • respond calmly when your daughter needs you

  • have smaller, more ordinary conversations that build trust

  • recognise when something might need more attention

  • stay in the conversation instead of automatically handing it over to Mum

No lectures. No judgement. No expectation that you already know the answers.

Just useful information, proper conversation and practical confidence for a moment that matters.

Who is this for

Dads, stepdads and father figures who want to feel better prepared as their daughters approach or move through puberty.

It will be particularly relevant for dads of girls roughly 7–14, but there’s no requirement for your daughter to be a particular age or to have already started puberty.

It’s also very deliberately relevant to single dads and separated parents — because sometimes the moment simply happens at your place and you shouldn’t need to panic or immediately call someone else to know what to do.

No previous knowledge needed. Come on your own or with a mate.

No. This is general health education designed to build understanding and confidence. It doesn’t replace individual medical advice from your GP or another health professional.
