𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝟭A
The Daylight Moon
Francis Cai

‘The Daylight Moon’ explores the interplay between reality and imagination through hyperreal photography. Francis, blending digital manipulation with traditional techniques, crafts a surreal narrative of his Australian odyssey. With fragmented sequences and dystopian undertones, the series delves into the complexities of memory, society, and the human psyche, transcending temporal and spatial boundaries.

𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝟭B
Life in the Old Dog,Yet
Brian Jones

Brian Jones' captivating photography exhibition challenges stereotypes of senior citizens. Through striking portraits, Jones captures the vitality and humanity of his subjects, who defy societal expectations by remaining active contributors to society well into their seventies and eighties. In a world where seniors are often marginalized or devalued, this exhibition celebrates their resilience, individuality, and ongoing engagement with life.

𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝟮
Everlasting Happiness
Deborah White

Deborah White uses humour and fantasy to create a utopian non-place of the imagination. ‘Everlasting Happiness’ follows a tongue-in-cheek quest that intertwines the supernatural wonder of love with the spectacle of war. The transformative power of love aspires to a harmony in the here and now. Soundtrack by Jamie Coghill.

𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝟯
Dark Silhouette
Helen Heslop

Exploring the 'abuse cycle' in intimate partner relationships, Helen Heslop's artworks employ quilting language and paint swatches. They illuminate women's experiences of coercive control, with 'Dark Silhouette' invoking a charcoal-grey house-paint, evoking a feeling of being watched and surrounded by menace.

𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 Friday 19 April - Sunday 12 May

Gallery opening times: Wednesday to Sunday, 12 - 5pm.

M16 Artspace operates on the lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. We honour and pay our respects to their traditional custodians. We acknowledge this land always was and always will be the country of Australia’s First Nations People. Sovereignty was never ceded.
