Book Launch: My Pet Archie by Karyn Savage
Event description
Join us on Love Your Bookshop Day when we welcome Karyn Savage to celebrate the launch of her debut children's book, My Pet Archie. Karyn will provide a reading from the book as well as a fun craft activity in Green Square as part of our festivities! Archie himself is even coming along as he just loves cuddles.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Having a pet like Archie is a wonderful adventure. He is fun, sweet and playful—and regularly misunderstood. This clever and engaging story is told in playful rhyme—each line beginning with the next letter of the alphabet. In between those pages, we see Archie behind-the-scenes, making a friend (out of a kit), creating art, crying, eating popcorn and playing music—all the things you don’t expect a dragon to do! The illustrations include lots of opportunity to play ‘find a word beginning with?’ and other alphabet-related games, supporting the learning while adding to the funny narrative and increasing interest for young readers. Well-timed for young fans of How To Train Your Dragon (live action movie releasing June 2025), this is an entertaining read-aloud story with amazing illustrations by illustrator Tamlyn Teow.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Karyn Savage is a primary school teacher who specialises in music. She has had several poems published in The School Magazine and is an active member of the Hunter CBCA Committee, a regular volunteer for the Newcastle Writers Festival and can often be found around the kid-lit scene at conferences and other events.
