Break the Fifth Wall

Built from the lived experiences of Western Sydney breaking crew Flowtality, Break the 5th Wall follows how a Breaker is built. The stage moves through three phases: training on cardboard, where foundation is drilled and crews are formed through shared struggle; the cypher, where rivalries surface and names are earned in real time; and the battle, where pressure reaches its limit. A layered soundscape of local pioneers, community OGs and breakbeats drive the movement through a cycle drawn from Breaking and the five elements of Hip Hop.

Open Captions: Dialogue, song lyrics, and important sound effects are displayed as text on a screen visible to all audience members throughout the show. Open captions support audience members who are Deaf, hard of hearing, neurodivergent, learning English, or anyone who benefits from reading text alongside the performance.

Community Tickets

East Sydney Community and Arts Centre (ESCAC)
34 Burton Street, Darlinghurst, Sydney

ESCAC is a 2-storey building on the corner of Burton and Palmer streets, across the road from the Eternity Playhouse. ESCAC is closely located to public transport: it is an 8 minute walk from Museum train station, and a 3 minute steep downhill walk on Palmer Street from busses stopping on Oxford Street.

There are accessible car spaces available out the front of ESCAC. All other parking is metered, with a 2 hour limit. For longer term parking, there is Wilson Car Park on Riley Street or The Domain.
