Event description

What better way to celebrate Migratory Bird Day than with the birds!

Join a tour of our grounds with Michele Keith, HWCA Board Member and daughter of our founder Max Maddock. With more than four decades at our wetlands, Michele will guide you through an enriching bird-watching expedition. Prepare to delve into the fascinating world of our feathered friends, gaining insight into their unique behaviours, following their seasonal journeys, and discovering hidden gems as you stroll around our wetlands.

With the recent wet weather, our ponds are full and drawing in many winged visitors such as Black Swans, Egrets and Black Necked Storks making it the perfect time for birdwatching!

After the tour, feel free to stay on to wander the grounds on your own or enjoy breakfast at our Wetlands Cafe (for bookings telephone 0403 537 211)

While you're at the Wetlands, be sure to watch our World Migratory Bird Day video featuring Phil Straw (East Asian Australasian Flyway Liaison Officer) and Liz Crawford (Hunter Bird Observers Club) discussing migratory bird patterns and this years focus: the importance of Insects for migratory birds.
