University instructors are passionate about their discipline, yet some struggle with designing and measuring student learning. Misinterpreting learning outcomes can create a disconnect between what is expected and what is delivered. Aligning teaching and assessments with curriculum and course learning outcomes create clear expectations for you and your students.
This interactive workshop is designed to demystify constructive alignment by understanding why learning outcomes matter, how to interpret them and design assessments that are in alignment. We will move beyond the idea that learning outcomes are a formality and uncover how they can be a powerful tool for instruction that creates cohesive and impactful learning experiences.
Through engaging in the activities and content of this workshop, you have the opportunity to
Identify poorly aligned learning activities and assessments with course or lesson outcomes
Recommend changes to bring Outcomes, Assessments, and activities into alignment.
