Celebrating Cultures Pop-Up: Niuean Polo Lima Weaving Workshop
Description
Come along and learn the traditional Niuean craft of Polo Lima, with contemporary artist Jess Atutolu, a wrist accessory often made and worn for cultural performances. These are also known as Hei, a Niuean head or hair accessory also worn for cultural performances. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn traditional Niuean weaving techniques and create your own piece to take home. The weaving can be challenging for beginners, but everyone is welcome to give it a go! Children under 12 are welcome, but adult supervision is recommended. The Pop-Up offers a unique opportunity to embrace our community’s rich cultural heritage through arts, culture, and connection. Don’t miss out, come experience the heart and soul of our community in a welcoming and inclusive space! Check out the full programme here.
