Collage Concertina Artist Book
Event description
Collage & Artist books are an expression of creativity through mixed media, combining textural lavers, a place for treasures. mementos, drawings, meanderings, asemic writings, whatever you want to cherish.
Create a concertina artist book concentrating on mark making on surfaces and using collage to tell a story and create multi layered pages of texture, imagery, and text understanding collage elements and layering. Alternatively, if participants prefer to concentrate on one or two wall pieces that is fine too. Participants will work with mark making implements such as inks, paint, pencils, printmaking, handmade brushes and collage to develop pages of a theme and their visual story. Using vintage papers, rust dyed papers, their own gel plate prints, fabric, imagery, and a little bit of stitch their themed concertina book will emerge. Techniques explored will be collage, layering, texturing, stitch, mark making, simple printmaking, stencils, and you will learn a variety of possible concertina techniques to construct to book and make each one unique and different.
The workshop will run for four hours and each participant should be well on their way to creating a finished book by the end. We can have a maximum of 7 participants and will need 4 for the workshop to go ahead.
Ticket payments will be refunded should the workshop be cancelled by the tutor.
All materials will be provided, but the tutor will send participants an equipment list with suggested materials they might want to bring from their own stash to make the artist book uniquely their own.
Afternoon Tea will also be provided.
