Create Your Own Wicking Beds
Event description
Wicking beds water your garden from below. They are the most water efficient and one of the easiest and most productive ways of growing veggies at home. We'll talk about how they work and how they can be put together using simple cost-effective materials. We’ll cover the pros and cons and correct some of the less good advice that’s out there so everyone can have backyard abundance in this unpredictable climate.
This on-line workshop will be presented by Adam Grubb, director of Very Edible Gardens. He has been making and refining wicking beds for the last 20 years.
Please note that this is an event for Naarm/Melbourne gardeners only. If you live outside this area, please contact your council to find out what free sustainable gardening events are available locally.
If you have any access or support questions or requirements in order to participate fully (eg. interpreter), please let us know at least two weeks prior to the event and we will be pleased to assist you. The presentation will be recorded to allow more participants to benefit from the information after the session, but you will be able to avoid being in the video and audio.
This My Smart Garden event is proudly presented by Merri-Bek City Council on the land of Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. My Smart Garden pays our respect to Elders past, present and emerging and acknowledges that First Nations peoples have cared for Country sustainably for tens of thousands of years.
