Edible Weeds Walk
Event description
Proudly hosted by the Mulberry Community Garden spring festival, Adam Grubb, of Very Edible Gardens will take you on an amazing journey into the world of weeds.
Amazingly, most common weed plants of Melbourne are edible! A free and nutritious feast awaits the knowledgeable forager. Learn how to use plants like dandelion, sow thistle, mallow, wild cabbage, wild onions, stinging nettle and many more – along with any dangerous look-alikes. A surprising number of our weeds also have long medical and cultural traditions. You can bring some weeds from home that you want identified (as well as any surplus produce, seeds, cuttings, plants, gardening magazines etc to swap and share)
Adam is co-author of The Weed Forager's Handbook and Let's Eat Weeds: A Kid's Guide to Foraging, which will be available for sale at a discount price on the day.
