Deep Listening to Nature at Broken River
Saturday 31 October 2026 | 1:00–4:00pm

Broken River, Eungella National Park
Life In Bloom is honoured to welcome Iris Ray Nunn, founding guide and creator of Deep Listening to Nature, for a rare and intimate experience among the ancient rainforest of Eungella National Park.
Iris will be visiting the Mackay region to facilitate the training of Deep Listening to Nature apprentice guides. During her visit, she has opened a small window of time to personally guide a limited group through this unique nature-based experience at Broken River.
Deep Listening to Nature is a gentle and reverent way of slowing down, quietening the mind and becoming more deeply attuned to the living world. Rather than simply walking through the landscape, participants are invited to pause, observe and listen - allowing the sights, sounds, rhythms and subtle wisdom of nature to be experienced in a more meaningful way.
Iris created this practice following a lifetime of intimate connection with the natural world. Her work has been shaped by decades in the healing arts, years of guiding in rainforest, desert and urban landscapes, and teachings shared with her by respected Indigenous elders and knowledge holders, including the late Anangu Elder Uncle Bob Randall.
Today, Iris works as a private guide at Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park, where she is certified to interpret the natural and cultural values of the park. Through Deep Listening to Nature, she has helped hundreds of people rediscover a sense of stillness, belonging and connection to Earth.
This three-hour experience will be gentle, immersive and guided at an unhurried pace. No previous meditation or nature-based experience is needed. Simply come with curiosity and a willingness to slow down.
Participants are also warmly invited to bring their own lunch and join Iris, Carla and the apprentice guides at Broken River from 12:00pm, before the guided experience begins at 1:00pm.
