Day 1: En Plein Air at Blackwattle Bay - Friday 24th January 2025 - 9am - 2.30pm

Experience the dynamic energy of Blackwattle Bay in Sydney, a vibrant urban harbor location featuring the city skyline, the bustling waterfront, and the evolving construction of the new Sydney Fish Market.
- Morning Kickoff: Enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea as we tour several inspiring outdoor locations.
- Guided Sketching: Learn to identify compelling compositions with a focusing on harbour life, the Sydney skyline, and the transformation of the Sydney Fish Markets. I will demonstrate essential plein air techniques to help you get started.
- Creative Foundations: Use your sketches as the groundwork for larger-scale, mixed-media masterpieces.
Day 2: Studio Session at Drawn Together, Marrickville - Sunday 26th January 2025 - 10am - 3pm
Develop your artworks from the sketches created at Blackwattle Bay with personalised guidance to help you achieve larger, finished artworks.
- Personalised Instruction: With a small group of only five participants, you’ll benefit from one-on-one mentoring tailored to your artistic journey.

Plein air drawing materials list…
This list is for a day of drawing research gathering information for bigger works back in the studio. The works you do on the day may become finished artworks, however the aim is to connect with the urban landscape, observe, notice what inspires you and make drawings.
Basic supplies…
- - 4B pencil and sharpener
- - Cartridge pad and or sketchbook (size of your choice, board and bulldog clips to put on if you don’t want to draw in your lap)
- - Artline pen, small brush, larger black marker or sharpie, small bottle of water.
- - Hat, drinking water, sunscreen.
If possible, bring a Portable chair or something to sit on - I have a few extra portable chairs too.
Optional extras…
- - Black or sepia ink
- - fountain pen
- - watercolour or gouache kit
- - larger drawing brush
- - small portable palette
- - If wanting to work bigger - larger watercolour paper, board, clips and easel
