As part of the Tourism Navigator Pilot funded by the Department of Social Services, Hotel Etico in collaboration with the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) is excited to announce the offer of Disability Awareness Training for small and medium-sized businesses. Feel free to book into one or book into all. The training is designed to;
- Increase your confidence and awareness of disability
- Improve your communications, accessibility, recruitment, and retention
- Become a more welcoming, confident, and accessible business
This is perfect for business owners, leaders, managers, and staff who want to learn more about disability and how to create a more inclusive workplace.
Module 3 - A+ Workforce - retaining your current talent and making your next recruitment decision
Having a job is important to us all. It’s where we get to contribute our skills, meet people make friends, and earn a wage to help us have the life we want. Employment also gives us a chance to learn new things, increase our self-esteem through pride in our work, and give us a sense of belonging and purpose.
In this module, we aim:
- To learn about the business case to open up your workforce to a more diverse recruitment pool, including candidates who have a disability
- To learn about unconscious bias and reflect on how this may affect how you recruit and who you recruit
- To develop an understanding of how to improve the accessibility of your job advertisements, recruitment and hiring processes taking into account disability
- To recognise the range of supports available for employees with a disability and employers.
You will also learn why becoming more disability-inclusive makes great business sense.
