Event description

Don’t miss this fascinating, entertaining, and multiple award-winning presentation by Australia’s renowned surf scientist, Dr Rob Brander!

Known as ‘Dr Rip’ for his unique method of demonstrating rip currents with purple dye, Dr Brander will share his expertise on how beaches work, how to identify dangerous rip currents, and most importantly, how to get out of them.

Stay safe in the surf this summer and gain a deeper understanding of your favourite beaches by learning how to ‘read’ beach and surf conditions in this informative and engaging talk.

Dr Rip will throw purple dye into a rip current at Maroubra Beach following the talk.

What they said: "Just want to say I’ve been swimming at the beach since I was a toddler. I’m now 57 and found that talk by Dr Rip, just brilliant, learnt the most I have from any presentation on Rips, thanks".
