The Wonderful World of Birds Workshop will teach you how to capture the awe-inspiring beauty and characteristics of Australian Birdlife.

Spend two full days focusing on birdlife. You will learn a special technique that is innovative and visually captivating. This technique will change how you think about using mixed media materials and expand new possibilities with drawings that you may have once thought unsuccessful. No more wasted expensive paper! 

In addition to learning a unique mixed media technique , this class is also full of demonstrations to teach you fun and unique drawing projects that are designed to strengthen your observation skills and develop your individual expression. 


Lessons and techniques cater for beginners, intermediate and advanced students and are in an accessible venue with a cafe onsite.

This is a popular workshop and you will learn contemporary art making techniques only taught in this workshop.

Suggestions listed below are my tips if buying new, pleases feel free to bring what you already have that’s similar and or better-quality supplies including paper if you have.

I supply some reference material, please bring some of your own Australian birdlife pictures that inspire you as well.

Ink pen or Artline black marker

Compressed charcoal

1 x ink colour (colour of your choice - tip keep it bright, not dark browns or blacks, suggest 50ml Art Spectrum or similar

Acrylic paint - Matisse structure formula acrylic paint intro set or similar (mini intro set of 5 x 12ml)

Sketch Pad – A3 cartridge paper – suggest Quill Premium or similar

Mixed media paper pad – A3 smooth 300gsm – suggest Renoir University Pads or similar.  A2 300gsm watercolours pads will be fine too.
