Exhibition Opening | Transversal
Event description
Join us at FORM Gallery on Thursday, 30 October 2025, to celebrate the opening of Transversal.
Transversal is a new exhibition and residency by Moving Image Lab Perth (MILP), a collective working across film, video art, expanded cinema, and experimental documentary. Over the course of a week prior to opening night, participating artists will transform FORM Gallery into an installation laboratory, experimenting with how image and sound can move through space to reshape our experience of the screen. During this residency period, the artists will collaborate using MILP’s established community feedback model to prototype and refine installation approaches.
From 30 October to 25 November, FORM Gallery will open to the public as an exhibition showcasing the resulting works by Perdita Phillips, Martina Mrongovius, Jacob Canet-Gibson, Alys Daroy, Josh Zeunert, Harrison See, Andrea Rassell, and Cassandra Tytler. Through holograms, micro-projections, two channel installations, stop-motion paintings and sculptural elements, the artists explore how moving image can extend beyond its usual frame, spilling into the gallery as light, rhythm, and spatial deviation.
By bringing together practitioners from across Western Australia’s growing moving image community, Transversal invites audiences to step inside a shifting field of projection and perception. The works blur the boundaries between cinema and installation, presence and reflection, body and screen, making the act of viewing itself part of the artwork.
Transversalis curated by Andrea Rassell and Cassandra Tytler, the co-founders of Moving Image Lab Perth (MILP).
