Ferment It
Event description
Discover the delicious, gut-friendly magic of fermentation in this hands-on, practical workshop with home gardening and preserving expert Marina Steinke.
Learn how to make your own:
Sauerkraut and kimchi – crunchy, tangy, and packed with probiotics
Kombucha – a refreshing, naturally fizzy drink
Sourdough – fresh homemade bread
Apple cider vinegar – made from scratch, no waste
Marina brings over 30 years of experience turning her spray-free garden harvest into nourishing food that lasts all year. Her approach is simple, flexible, and all about using what you have.
Whether you're keen to cut down food waste, boost your health, or take another step toward self-sufficiency, this workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to start fermenting at home.
No fancy equipment or prior experience needed — just bring your curiosity.
Some things we'll make together or learn how to make when at home. Other things you'll make for yourself at the event, to take home with you. For this please bring a small quantity of vegetables suitable for the process such as cabbage, carrots or daikon radish, along with at least 2 wide rim glass jars and a grater. Your own bowl and a chopping board would also be good as there aren't enough for everyone at the venue.
We will have scobies for kombucha and sourdough starters available to take home for those who would like them (prior notice required).
Come and get inspired to turn everyday ingredients into flavourful, living foods!
