Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!
Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.
Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.
You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.
GIG San Antonio-Texas Guest instructors: Alexa Yanes & Nathiely De Jesus
Alexa Yanes is a black belt competitor and instructor at Rodrigo Pinheiro BJJ in San Antonio, Texas. She began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 8 years ago. She always loved Jiu Jitsu, but had no idea where it would take her.
Yanes started competing as a white belt for fun, but quickly became more dedicated at blue belt. She travels all over the world to compete, teach, and train. She is a multiple time IBJJF open champion at every belt, World no gi champion, Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Champion Abu Dhabi World Pro Finalist, Pan American Champion, IBJJF Asian Champion and 3x AJP Tour Best North American Player. She has been fortunate enough to make jiu jitsu her life and loves spreading the knowledge of jiu jitsu for her fellow females. Her goal is to show the community it is possible to make a living and how to find opportunity in this sport.
Nathiely De Jesus, also known as Nathy, is a multiple time gi and no gi world champion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black belt. Nathy has achieved remarkable heights throughout her grappling career. She is a 4 time IBJJF World Champion in the Gi and a 3 time in NoGi, has won many big events such as Pan Ams, Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, American Nationals and the European Open. She is often a feature in super fights on Fight 2 Win, Third Coast Grappling and Who’s Number 1. She is also a mother, wife and gym owner and head instructor at a Rodrigo Pinheiro Brazilian Jiu Jitsu affiliate in Texas.
COST: $20 Min Donation. All Donations Welcome.
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 5/26/24 at 1:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.
Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 12:30 om. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 1:00 pm.
