Growing the Pie - International Grant Opportunities
Event description
“The Australian Research Funding Landscape” is a series of online workshops delivered by UTS Aspire with the aim of showcasing the diversity of opportunities available to UTS researchers in attracting external research funding.
The series will begin with an overview session, showcasing the breadth of the research funding landscape in Australia. A number of follow-on sessions are offered in subsequent weeks, each providing detailed insights into the different funding types.
This is the registration page for the follow-on session ‘Growing the Pie - International Grant Opportunities' convened by Elly Pineda (International Research Grants Manager, Research Office).
Finding money to support research can sometimes seem like navigating a never-ending maze of guidelines, requirements, and so forth. This is especially true in the international funding landscape, for which there are numerous avenues of funding sources, both private and public.
In this session, Elly will be joined by UTS researchers that have successfully attracted funding from a variety of international sources. The session will focus on showcasing a number of international funding sources available to UTS researchers and how success in these schemes is critically underpinned by existing or emerging international research collaboration. In addition to learning about the fundamental principles of international funding, we will also explore the tools available to help you identify like-minded colleagues as a way to grow your research partnerships beyond Australia. UTS researchers will share their stories of challenge and success in building international collaborations, as well as attracting funding from international funding opportunities. You will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions of all presenters.
Learning outcomes:
1. Understanding of the challenges and opportunities afforded by international research collaborations.
2. Knowledge of ‘best practice’ approaches for identifying potential overseas collaborators.
3. Increased familiarity with the principles of international research funding: application pathways, eligibility, supported activities.
4. Awareness of available UTS support resources and contacts for exploring international funding opportunities – and inspiration to apply.
Please note that this session will be recorded and the recording possibly uploaded as online training.
