Am I ready for Cat1? – Strategies for success in Nationally Competitive Grants – ARC
Event description
“The Australian Research Funding Landscape” (ARFL) is a series of workshops delivered by the ‘UTS Aspire’ Program through RES Hub. It aims to introduce and showcasing the diversity of opportunities available to UTS researchers in attracting external research funding.
The series will begin with an overview session, showcasing the breadth of the research funding landscape in Australia. A number of follow-on sessions are offered in subsequent weeks, each providing detailed insights into the different funding types. Recordings of previous sessions can be viewed here.
This is the registration page for the follow-on session ‘Am I ready for Cat1? – Strategies for success in Nationally Competitive Grants – ARC’.
In this session, we will explore funding schemes from the Australian Research Council (ARC) under the Nationally Competitive Grants Program – from fundamental and applied project grants, to fellowships and beyond. For each scheme, eligibility and selection criteria will be explained, as well as competitiveness and success factors. Finally, we will share some important, strategic tips with prospective ARC applicants.
Expected learning outcomes are:
- Awareness of different ARC scheme objectives for projects (e.g. Discovery, Linkage) and Fellowships/Awards (e.g. Future Fellowships, DECRA).
- Awareness of special eligibility criteria for Fellowships, including application limits, timing and strategies
- Ability to self-assess competitiveness – is the ARC the most appropriate choice of funder at this point in time, in future?
- Tips & tricks for capability development towards ARC grants
This session will be recorded and the recording possibly uploaded as online training. It is currently intended as hybrid mode delivery – as face-to-face session in RES Hub Physical event space and via Zoom. Please select the appropriate ticket type at registration.
