    Event description

Our introductory training session is designed for people at all organisational levels with beginner to intermediate understanding of workplace diversity and inclusion.

This 3.5 hour workshop* is designed to help you move beyond sensitivity training and diversity to justice and equity. Using a nuanced approach to privilege and marginalisation, you’ll workshop intersections and effects and work on developing tailored structural solutions for your own organisation or campaigns.

At the end of the training, you will understand the underlying drivers of societal and workplace discrimination and that creating the circumstances for gender equity, cultural and racial justice, freedom of sexuality and gender identity and a social model of disability will result in a society where everyone can thrive. You'll explore how structural interventions by organisations can reduce these impacts and create a welcoming and inclusive workplace. Participants will work in small groups to identify strategies that apply to their own organisations and come away with practical ideas to implement change. Book your place today!

We will answer the following questions:

    • What is privilege? How does it relate to power and resistance?
    • What is the difference between 'diversity and inclusion' and 'equity and justice'?
    • How can we remove barriers in our organisations to create a thriving, collaborative culture?
    • How do social systems create stigma and discrimination and seep into our organisations, our interpersonal relationships and our psyches?
    • Are our organisations 'walking the talk'?

This training session takes place on Zoom. Tickets are free for First Nations people and discounted tickets are available for low income or unhoused people — please enquire by emailing rosanne@intertwine.org.au.
