Event description

MHCT in partnership with Lifeline Tasmania

Overview

Trauma is usually invisible to the human eye. This workshop run by Lifeline Tasmania is designed to give any employee an understanding of the internal landscape of those affected: the common impacts on a person’s brain and body, and what this means in terms of behaviour, social skills, self-regulation and more. As your understanding develops you will gain more confidence to interact in a skilful way with those impacted by trauma. This workshop also takes into account the prevalence of intergenerational trauma in Tasmania.

Trauma histories need to be understood and recognised from a service delivery perspective. More than three-quarters of Australians experience a potentially traumatic event at some point in their life. This means your organisation will be interacting with, employing, or supporting individuals impacted by trauma, regardless of whether trauma recovery is the main focus of your engagement with the individual.
