Community Investing

Enable communities to invest in the future they want to create.

Investment shapes what gets built, what gets funded, who benefits and how prosperity is created over time.

Yet many communities have limited opportunities to participate in investment or influence where capital flows. As a result, important local priorities can remain unfunded while wealth and decision-making are concentrated elsewhere.

This session explores how communities can become active participants in investment. We'll examine practical approaches that enable communities to invest in local projects, businesses, housing, infrastructure, renewable energy and other initiatives that matter to them.

We'll explore a range of models and mechanisms that enable communities to invest more inclusively and locally.

What will you learn?

In this session, you will:

• Learn what community investing is and why it matters.

• Explore how communities can invest in projects, businesses, housing, infrastructure and other local priorities.

• Understand different approaches to community investing and when they can be used.

• Learn about community investment models such as community investment funds.

• Explore the opportunities and challenges involved in community investing.

• Learn from real-world examples of communities investing in themselves.

• Apply the learning to opportunities in your own community, organisation or region.

By the end of this session, you will have a practical understanding of how community investing works, the different models available, and how communities can participate in and influence investment to create long-term local benefit.

We are currently offering this session free of charge to make Community Capital learning accessible to as many people as possible.

Places are limited to support meaningful participation, interaction and discussion. Early registration is recommended.

Session Delivery

We intend to deliver all advertised sessions; however, delivery is subject to facilitator availability and capacity. While we will make every effort to proceed as planned, there may be occasions where sessions are rescheduled, modified or unable to proceed. If this occurs, registered participants will be notified and offered access to any future equivalent sessions.
