Dr Daryl Holmes OBE is a pioneering Australian entrepreneur, qualified dentist, and passionate philanthropist whose life work reflects a calling far beyond business. After graduating from the University of Queensland in 1987, he served as a Dental Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force before launching his private practice in North Queensland. In 2005, he founded 1300SMILES, Australia’s first ASX-listed dental group, transforming the dental industry through innovation, service excellence, and accessible care. He led 1300 SMILES through a A$165 million in enterprise value sale to Abano Healthcare Group in late 2021.

Dr Daryl says, “But it is not the dollars that define success, Getting to a point where you can balance your life and having the opportunity to give back that's what I see as success”

Caring for people's pearly whites has created worldly riches, but the real reward is at the pearly gates to Heaven for Dr Holmes, whose approach to life is founded on a strong Christian faith.

“Work and business and so on are important. God and my family come first,'' he says.

Beyond business, Dr Holmes is deeply committed to humanitarian service. For over 15 years, he has volunteered with YWAM Medical Ships, delivering critical dental care to remote villages in Papua New Guinea. His record of 132 extractions in one day exemplifies his dedication to using his skills to relieve suffering and bring hope to the underserved.

Dr Holmes and 1300SMILES Ltd have been active supporters & participants on-board the YWAM Medical Ship providing much needed dental services and training, in remote and rural PNG. This humanitarian aid and corporate social responsibility is core to 1300SMILES' Vision and Values.

Dr. Holmes has been a Director, and Deputy Chairman, of the Cowboys Leagues Club for the past 12 years, then in June 2014 he was appointed Chairman.

Awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his humanitarian work, Dr Holmes leads with faith, humility, and generosity. He believes true success is not measured by wealth, but by impact — using influence and resources to serve others and honour God. A devoted husband, father of five, and mentor, Dr Holmes is a living example of Kingdom entrepreneurship — where mission always comes before money.

IMPORTANT DRESS CODE:

As this is the Brisbane Club, we must adhere to the strict dress code, otherwise entry will be prohibited.

For Men: A jacket must be worn at all times. Collared button up shirts (tie optional), dress pants and dress shoes are required. 

For Women: Tailored dresses or blouses paired with trousers or skirts. Footwear may include open toe shoes or smart heels. Ensembles with structured jackets are optional.

General Note: Black, business style denim is acceptable, provided it is clean and free from rips, fades or embellishments.

Sports apparel, t-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, sneakers and similar casual wear are NOT acceptable attire.

We recommend using Queens Plaza Car Park or Secure Parking Post Office Square, it is a short walk from the Club.
