Market Tote Bag Sewing Workshop
Event description
SCRAP is so excited to teach a third round of one of our wonderful skill-building workshops offered for adults and teens this winter: The Market Tote Bag! In this class, students will use basic sewing skills to construct a sturdy and cute canvas tote bag. They will learn how to install pockets, create straps, and how to "box out" the bottom of a bag. We've got tons of colors and patterned prints to choose from, so your bags are customizable and totally you. Join our incredible instructor Kate this Saturday to develop new skills, meet other beginner-level sewists (slash, potential farmers market lovers!), and take home a tote bag made with your own two hands!
This project takes 6 hours to complete; there will be a 15-minute break at the three-hour mark to stretch, get a snack, and re-energize!
All tools and materials provided. Prerequisite: Sewing Basics I and II, or familiarity with basic sewing machine anatomy and use (e.g., how to do a straight stitch, how to thread a machine's top thread and insert a bobbin, how to wind a bobbin, how to work through basic troubleshooting on jams, how to press a seam with an iron, etc). Ages 14+.
