Event description
Urgent Cities is an in-person workshop event run by Urban Design Forum as part of Melbourne Design Week.
Urgency seems to be the pervading atmosphere under which many big urban decisions are made regarding the future of our cities. From housing affordability to transport infrastructure, building standards to the climate emergency, problems need to be solved…and fast.
How can we design fast: well?
How do we keep up with rapid change, while still creating thoughtful outcomes that stand the test of time?
How do we maintain democratic participatory processes in such an atmosphere?
Urgent Cities will bring together design and planning experts as facilitators for wider discussion with attendees. The aim of the workshop is to draft rapid campaigns to improve the future of our cities and respond to these critical questions.
The event will be held in the Activities room of the Library at The Dock.
