Mental Health First Aid (UC Staff)

UC Medical and Counselling Centre are supporting the UC community by offering Standard Mental Health First Aid to UC staff at a subsidised fee of $150.00 (paid by the staff members department).

Led by a Licensed Instructor, Mental Health First Aid is a practical skills-based education program that equips people with the skills and confidence needed to recognise and respond to someone they know who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. Grounded in research and guided by the voice of lived experience, this course provides high-quality, safe and proven mental health first aid literacy and skills training to strengthen the support available to all Australians.

Please note: Mental Health First Aid is delivered by UC Medical and Counselling Centre in-person only.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW: 20th-21st MAY 2024 (TWO-DAY COURSE)

  • This course is presented as a two-day, face-to-face course on 20th and 21st May. Participation on both days is mandatory.
  • This course is available to UC staff only.
  • The fee to attend this course is $150.00, charged to the staff member's department cost center. Staff should have approval from their manager and their cost center number ready upon registration.
  • Upon registration, participants will receive an email to their staff email inviting them to complete the eLearning component. This must be completed before attending the face-to-face course. Failure to do so may result in failing the course.
  • Location: 2B03.
  • Breaks will be provided (food and drink not provided).
  • At the end of the course, participants can complete an online accreditation assessment to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider.

  • This course is presented as a blended course: a self-paced, eLearning component and an face-to-face component on the 3rd of June.
  • This course is available to UC staff only.
  • Location: 2C09
  • Breaks will be provided (food and drink not provided).
  • At the end of the course, participants can complete an online accreditation assessment to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider.
  • All staff should provide their cost centre, and a screen shot of their managers approval when registering.
