- What should I bring?
Please bring:
A yoga mat ( if you don't have one, we have some spares)
A water bottle
Wear Comfortable activewear
- Do I need to have done Pilates or breathwork before?
Not at all! This event is suitable for all experience levels. Whether it's your first class or you're a regular, you'll be guided every step of the way.
- What time should I arrive?
Doors open at 8:55am. We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early so you have time to find a park, settle into the space and get comfortable before we begin at 9:00am.
- Can I come on my own?
Absolutely! Many people attend Morning Mindfulness events on their own. Our community is warm, welcoming and inclusive, making it a great place to meet like-minded people. So many people have met their best friends for life at our events.
- What if I'm not very flexible or fit?
No worries at all. The Pilates class is designed to be accessible, and you're encouraged to move at a pace that feels right for your body.
This isn't about being perfect, it's about showing up for yourself.
If you have an injury or quite limited in movement due to an existing condition, please consider if this is suitable for you.
- What should I expect during the breathwork session?
You'll be guided through a gentle yet powerful breathwork journey while lying comfortably on your mat. Many people leave feeling relaxed, grounded and deeply refreshed.
- Is there parking available?
Yes. There is limited free street parking available nearby.
And paid parking located across the road in the Woolworths carpark.
Please allow a little extra time to find a park before the event.
- What if I cant go anymore?
As this is a Cancer Council fundraising event, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable to any other Morning Mindfulness event. If you're unable to attend, you're welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend or family member.
- Can I purchase tickets at the door?
If tickets are still available, yes. However, numbers are limited, so we recommend booking in advance to avoid missing out.
Tip: Tickets are cheaper the earlier you buy them
- Is breathwork safe for everyone?
Breathwork is an umbrella term for practices that intentionally change the rhythm, depth and pace of your breathing to support different physical, mental and emotional outcomes. Just like there are many styles of yoga, there are many styles of breathwork, each with a different purpose and intensity.
The breathwork journey you'll experience at this event is trauma-informed, gentle, grounding and nurturing. It's designed to be accessible for all experience levels and focuses on helping regulate the nervous system, reduce stress and bring you into the present moment. Many participants leave feeling deeply relaxed, more connected to themselves and often describe it as "the most present I've felt in a long time."
More intensive styles of breathwork—such as Holotropic Breathwork, Wim Hof Method and other fast, high-intensity techniques—are not being facilitated at this event. These practices may not be suitable for individuals who are pregnant, have uncontrolled cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy or a history of seizures, have recently undergone major surgery, have a detached retina, or have certain serious mental health conditions.
If you have any questions about whether this event is suitable for you, or if you have a medical condition you'd like to discuss, please don't hesitate to get in touch before attending. If you're unsure, we also recommend speaking with your healthcare professional before participating.
- How will funds be allocated to Cancer Council?
This event has been designed to maximise the funds raised for Cancer Council NSW. After covering essential event costs, all remaining proceeds will be donated through Alycia Davies' official Stars of Newcastle fundraising campaign
- Are tickets tax deductible?
No. While this event is a fundraiser supporting Cancer Council NSW, your ticket purchase is not tax deductible because it provides entry to an event and you receive a service in return.
Under Australian Taxation Office (ATO) guidelines, purchasing a ticket to a fundraising event is generally not considered a tax-deductible donation where a material benefit is received.
If you'd like to make a tax-deductible donation, you can do so directly through Alycia Davies' official Cancer Council NSW Stars of Newcastle fundraising page. Any eligibility for tax deductibility will be determined by Cancer Council and the ATO guidelines applicable to direct donations.
