MyTime Online - Carer Impact Statement May 23rd 2022

Joining us tonight is Helen Johnson with tips on how to best prepare a Carer Impact Statement. 

A Carer Impact Statement is a written letter by someone who cares for or is involved in the treatment of an individual living with a disability.

Helen Johnson has worked in the disability sector for over 25 years and volunteered in the ‘Carer’ sector for decades. She currently works for the Association for Children with a Disability as a State-wide Community Education Facilitator and she was a Support Advisor for many years & left this role in 2021.

Helen, her husband Peter and their 2 sons, Jayden and Ben, live in regional Victoria. Their youngest son Ben, now 28yo, was born with an extremely rare syndrome causing multiple, severe and profound disabilities.
Helen looks forward to sharing her own ‘tips & hints’ plus various resources to assist you to be able to develop your own very important ‘CARER IMPACT STATEMENT’

My Time is for parents and carers raising a child with a delay or disability. It’s a place for you to unwind and talk about your experiences. It’s a world away from appointments and therapy. It’s support for you. 

Our groups are run by trained and knowledgeable parent facilitators who understand what it’s like to have a child with disability and have experience navigating the different services and systems, including NDIS. 

Join our online My Time peer group on Monday nights. It’s a place for parents and caregivers to come together to share, laugh and learn from each other. It is a drop-in group. Come when you can, leave when you need to. Everyone is welcome!
