This Full day workshop is aimed at all General Practitioners, Medical Professionals, Paramedics and Nursing staff working within an Emergency Care Setting in a rural or regional hospital in South Australia. The workshops are provided free of charge by an ACEM (Australasian College for Emergency Medicine) initiative funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health.

Major Trauma Skills Workshop.

Join us on the 12th of July for a day of interactive and hands-on learning experience that will equip you with essential trauma skills. The aim of this education is to help all emergency medicine disciplines to gain a greater understanding of emergency skills and knowledge in rural areas. Delivered by experienced educators and trainers from the NALHN EMET.

Learning Outcomes include:

  • Recognise and treat immediate and early life threats in trauma
  • Adopt a structured approach to primary and secondary survey
  • Practice life saving primary interventions and procedures – airways, breathing, circulation
  • Stabilise the severe trauma patient prior to up transfer.
  • Manage severe trauma within the constraints of rural health settings to improve outcomes
  • Learn current practice guidelines on management of critical bleeding in trauma and current trauma resuscitation guidelines.
  • Simulation based learning focussed on team work, leadership, team ergonomics, communication and situational awareness
