National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is holding an Open Day for Adnyamathanha community members at Nilpena
Ediacara National Park on 16 June 2024.
The new Nilpena Ediacara National Park on Adnyamathanha land protects internationally significant fossils and a diverse landscape. On Sunday 16 June, a free Yura’s day will take place for the Adnyamathanha community to enjoy this amazing place.

Free admission - bookings are essential
The park is a site of international significance that requires protection. Access to the park is by guided tour only for which bookings are essential, as places are limited. Please select a session that will suit you best. Tickets must be selected for each member of your group (including children).
Tours
Tours begin at the Nilpena gateway, a dramatic stone wall standing as the entry point to the park. Visitors can park their car at the main gate. A bus will collect ticket holders at their chosen time slot and take them to the site. Please check local travel times to ensure you arrive at the Nilpena gateway before your allocated time so you can get on the bus. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.
Guided tour times
- 9 am - 11.30 am
- 10 am - 12.30 pm
- 1 pm - 3.30 pm
- 2 pm - 4.30 pm.
Facilities
Accessible toilets are available on site. Please note that part of the tour is taking place outdoors. We encourage all visitors to wear appropriate clothing and footwear, as well as to bring drinking water and snacks.
