New DIGGS Downtown: Reimagining Space, Turning Offices into Housing
Event description
2 LU
Project tour - Presented by AIACV’s Civic Engagement Team
Back by popular demand, this follow-up event continues the story of The DIGGS—an ambitious adaptive reuse project in the heart of Downtown Sacramento. While the transformation is still underway on paper, the vision continued to develop: the final concept includes apartments, a café, coffee shop, retail, offices, and even mini storage, all housed within the historic Thompson Diggs building.
Originally a warehouse and later used as office space, this building is now at the center of a broader conversation about the future of our urban fabric. Join Heller Pacific (Developer), 19six Architects (Architect), and Brown Construction (Contractor) for a guided tour of the site and insights into the design, regulatory, and financial challenges of converting commercial buildings into mixed-use residential hubs.
Come explore how underused commercial spaces can be reimagined to help shape a more livable, sustainable, and resilient city.
