New Vista Illuminate: Behavioral Health Conference
Greetings from New Vista's Learning and Development Team!
Welcome to Illuminate 2026, our annual gathering dedicated to advancing behavioral health through learning, collaboration, and inspiration. We are thrilled to bring together clinicians, coordinators, peer specialists, program leaders, and community partners who share a commitment to improving the lives of those we serve.
Over these two days, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with a rich lineup of sessions designed to spark insight, strengthen practice, and deepen connection across the behavioral health continuum. This year’s agenda highlights both foundational topics and emerging innovations in our field.
Throughout the conference, you’ll find sessions tailored for a range of behavioral health roles and experience levels—from early‑career professionals to seasoned clinicians seeking new perspectives.
Illuminate is not just a conference—it’s a space to recharge, to challenge assumptions, and to elevate the work we do daily. We encourage you to lean into new ideas, ask questions, connect with colleagues, and reflect on how these insights can strengthen your impact in the communities you serve.
Thank you for being part of this year’s event. Your dedication to learning and growth is what brings this conference to life. Let’s learn, connect, and illuminate the path forward together.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS - Conscious Discipline: Tools for Reconnecting to Yourself and Your Clients
Kelsey Donnini, LCSW has been a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor since 2013. She holds a Masters Degree in Social Work as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, both from the University of Wyoming. Kelsey has many years of experience as a consultant and trainer for educators working with infants, toddlers, preschool and school aged children both typical and those with special needs. She has creative abilities to solve challenging behavioral difficulties using Conscious Discipline while supporting parents and educators with empathy and kindness. Kelsey has developed strategies to support school wide implementation of Conscious Discipline, including support for parents, educators, paraprofessionals and administrators. Bridging the gap between education and mental health practice is one of her passions. Kelsey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and is the owner of The Children’s Place Counseling and Consultation in Casper, WY. Kelsey uses the principles and skills of Conscious Discipline as the foundation of her clinical therapeutic work with children, teens, adults and their families in her counseling practice. She is able to join families when they are struggling and create a therapeutic plan to improve relationships and behavior using Conscious Discipline. Kelsey also provides parent coaching to those interested in learning new skills, no matter the location. With the help of new technologies parents can meet with Kelsey virtually and learn strategies to implement at home. This flexible approach has been life changing for families wanting to learn, but perhaps do not have access to on-site training opportunities.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS - Mastering High-Stakes Conversations: Tactics from a Hostage Negotiator
Scott Harvey is a professional speaker, communication consultant, and author who specializes in high‑stakes conversations and leadership communication. With more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement—including roles as a sergeant, FBI‑trained hostage negotiator, and media relations officer—Scott built his career in environments where the right words could de‑escalate crisis, rebuild trust, and save lives. He now brings that expertise to professionals who regularly navigate emotionally charged, high‑pressure interactions. For over 15 years, Scott has trained leaders, clinicians, and frontline teams across the country on how to communicate with clarity, composure, and purpose when the stakes are highest. He is the creator of the C.A.L.M. Framework—Control Emotions, Ask Good Questions, Listen Actively, and Motivate Desired Action—a practical communication system designed to help professionals manage difficult conversations with confidence. Scott is also the author of Silence Kills, which examines how avoiding critical conversations erodes trust, weakens teams, and undermines long‑term outcomes. His work centers on reducing miscommunication, strengthening relationships, and equipping professionals with actionable skills they can put to use immediately. Based in Kentucky, Scott has presented on hundreds of stages and partnered with organizations nationwide. His approach is engaging, relatable, and grounded in the belief that in high‑stakes environments, communication is not a soft skill—it is a life‑changing skill.
