New Vista Illuminate: Behavioral Health Continuing Education Conference

Join us for New Vista’s Illuminate Conference where you will have a opportunity to hear from some of the leaders in the field of behavioral health.

Meals: Continental breakfast and catered lunch will be provided by Dupree Catering of Lexington.

Continuing Education: New Vista has been approved to provide CEU's for the LPCC, LCSW, and Psychology Board. Attendees must sign in to attain CEU's for these trainings. Certificates will be sent out the following week. No partial credit will be awarded. 

Parking: Attendees are more than welcome to park anywhere they are able to find a spot. There will be substantial parking in the building's garage and that parking will be validated.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS - From Radical Talk to Normative Practice: Actualizing the Promise of Self-Care

Justin “Jay” Miller, Ph.D., dean and Dorothy A. Miller Research Professor in Social Work Education at the UK College of Social Work, has a deep passion for self-care amongst those in the helping professions. In recent years, much attention has been paid to the so-called “helping” professions — those who work on the front lines in assisting others. Social workers, teachers, police, firefighters, doctors, nurses and other health care workers are among the many professionals who often face the most stressful situations in the workplace. They’re also often the ones who see the most prevalent risks associated with professional burnout, when a practitioner becomes increasingly inoperative based on the circumstances and pressures of what they’re doing. In this session, Dr. Miller will take a closer look at realizing self-care and what it can mean for you.

ALL DAY LEARNING EVENT - Lead Management: Creating Conditions for Quality and Building Intrinsic Motivation Within Employees

Michael Fulkerson, MAE, LPCC and Mariah Castlen, LCSW will be offering an all day learning event on lead management; a management technique that is utilized to create conditions for a quality work environment and build intrinsic motivation within employees. This presentation will teach strategies related to how to create a quality work environment, complete employee evaluations using lead management, and provide practical ways to implement lead management techniques within a bureaucratic system. This presentation will be presented with two unique points of view, Mariah Castlen as the employee and Michael H. Fulkerson as the manager.
