Want to have a go at sculpting Oamaru Stone into something beautiful? Here's your chance!
This 2 day workshop (10am - 5pm both days) is suitable for beginners. Experienced Oamaru Stone carver Peter Green will show you how to sculpt a koru with limestone then you will be able to design and work on your own patterns as well.
Oamaru Stone will be provided and some tools to share also. We will be working in a large garage at Hakatere Marae so wear something warm. Overalls or old clothes would be suitable as you will get dusty. Eye protection & face mask also recommended.

Fantastic opportunity to have 2 full days of learning with a local expert, and then go home with 2 amazing stone pieces! Below are photos of pieces the beginners made on the same course in 2021.
Youth and adults of all genders and cultural backgrounds are welcome to join this wānanga. However, if you have done this course with Peter before, please don't book on to this one - we want to give other people a chance to learn this time round.
