Professor Albert L Refiti (AUT) presents a lecture on the enduring elements of Pasifika architecture as they are expressed in Aotearoa, New Zealand. The talk will cover Pacific architecture routes from Oceania to Polynesia, to Pasifika NZ and Moana Architecture today. Although these traditions transform as they travel across the seas to settle in new homes, they also retain remarkable consistencies. Explore the influences of this architectural movement in our urban fabric at Open Christchurch’s opening event. Join us at Te Puna Wānaka, a building that embodies the lecture's theme.
Friday 3 May: 6-7pm. Doors open at 5:30.
