Dam, Sequoia, Cornus & Mathius Track Loop – R.J. Hamer Arboretum

Event Description

Step into the beauty of the R.J. Hamer Arboretum, just an hour east of Melbourne, on this peaceful 6.9 km loop walk.

We’ll begin at the Woolrich Lookout BBQ and picnic area, then follow a wide, winding trail through towering trees, gentle gullies, and open ridgelines. Along the way, you’ll enjoy moderate climbs, rewarding views, and quiet moments immersed in nature.

This trail is mostly easy with a few steady sections, making it perfect for those looking for a relaxed but rewarding hike. With fewer crowds than other Dandenong tracks, it’s a chance to slow down and truly take in the forest.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE WALK:

- Modearte inclines

- Uneven ground

- Exceptional views

WHAT TO BRING:

- Water (at least 1.5 Litres)

- Snack. Ie: Banana, high protein snack, Jam sandwich.

- Electrolyte energy drink

WHAT TO WEAR:

- A good pair of walking shoes is necessary, which could be hiking shoes or boots. It is recommended to avoid jogging runners as they may not provide enough grip, although it is not a strict requirement. No open toe shoes.

- Decent socks. Ie: a mix of wool, nylon & elastane. Non bulky (Visit hiking stores)

- Compact jacket 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

This walk is NOT suitable for children under 10, babies in carriers or for people who do not walk more than 5km’s at a time. This is a National Park, therefore no dogs or animals allowed.
