Event description

Join the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) on Sunday, Dec. 14 for a sunset cruise and on-the-water concert featuring Jerron Paxton & Dennis Lichtman.

Each Pine Island Sounds ticket directly supports SCCF’s water quality monitoring and research. Tickets include a complimentary drink coupon — courtesy “First Drink’s on Us” sponsors Jack and Janie — and a buffet of light bites. All cruises set sail from McCarthy’s Marina (Captiva Cruises) on Captiva Island.

This energetic musical duo will perform aboard the 65-foot Lady Chadwick from approximately 4-6 p.m. Guests may board beginning at 3:30 p.m.

A huge thanks to our partners at Captiva Cruises and the Marcum Giving Fund for making these sunset cruises possible.

About the Artists
Jerron Paxton (formerly “Blind Boy” Paxton) and Dennis Lichtman are world-renowned multi-instrumentalists and vocalists whose musical friendship has grown organically in New York City for more than a decade. Paxton and Lichtman were artists-in-residence at Symphony Space in New York City for the 2024-25 season and recently released their first full-length duo recording, Jerron Paxton & Dennis Lichtman. Their mutual love of the history, stories, and significance behind the music they play is apparent as they romp through an energetic and engaging set of acoustic blues, ragtime, Tin Pan Alley pop songs, 1920s jazz, twin fiddle hoe-downs, and original songs and compositions.

Jerron is a singular talent – a multi-instrumentalist, storyteller, and charismatic performer who channels the spirit of early American music like no one else. With roots in blues, ragtime, and folk traditions, his shows feel like stepping into a living room in the 1920s – joyful, raw, and full of heart, blending virtuosic musicianship with humor, history, and soul. Whether he’s playing banjo, fiddle, piano, or harmonica, Jerron brings a rare authenticity that resonates deeply.

Dennis Lichtman is a clarinetist, fiddler, and mandolinist whose ear for early jazz and string band music is second to none. He and Jerron have collaborated for over a decade now, developing the kind of musical chemistry that only comes from deep friendship and countless hours of shared stage time. They also love engaging with students and communities, offering outreach performances and workshops on early American music and its history.

Jerron released two albums in 2024, the self-titled duo record "Paxton & Lichtman" and his first-ever solo album comprised of all original music entitled "Things Done Changed," which was released via Smithsonian Folkways.

About Pine Island Sounds
SCCF launched the one-of-a-kind concert series, Pine Island Sounds, in 2019 as a special donor event to support critical research and programs to protect local water quality. It has become an island favorite, and tickets sell quickly!
