Playing with Multiplication - Family Workshop

Join us for Playing with Multiplication, a playful and practical session designed for students in Years 3 to 8, and an accompanying family adult. 

Together we'll explore important ideas about multiplication through playful and collaborative activities, games and puzzles.   

Each ticket admits one pair of players; one family adult and one child. This is intentional and is part of our mission to support families with positive and inclusive ideas about mathematical learning and success. Feel free to send and questions you may have to alex@mathsplay.org

This workshop is for people who relate to one or more of the following...

• You're curious about exploring maths concepts in creative and inclusive ways
• You've often felt intimidated or disconnected from maths 
• You like the idea of practising important maths skills through playful activities 
• You haven't yet mastered the multiplication table
• You're a student in Year 3 - Year 8. Please organise your adult guardian to register and attend with you!
• You're an adult guardian of a child completing Year 3 - Year 8 — please invite them!

Date & Time:

Tue 18th Feb 2025, 4:30PM - 5:30 PM AEDT

Doors will open at 4:15PM so we can be ready for a prompt start to our workshop!

Participants are welcome to hang around until 6:00PM to continue maths playing a little longer.

What to expect in the structured workshop (4:30-5:30 PM)

• Community Learning: Enjoy learning not just from the facilitator, but from each other's mathematical ideas. 
• Partner Activities: Each child and their accompanying adult will work together on fun, hands-on tasks designed to spark mathematical curiosity and creativity (while practising multiplicative thinking skills)
• Guidance and Support: Facilitators will provide clear instructions and helpful tips to ensure everyone feels confident and included.
