Event description

Join Anna Arden-Wong for an outdoor painting session as part of the Geeveston Art Show's Artist Development Programme. Painting in the open air really is a different experience. How do you deal with the changing modes of the outdoors? Learn to capture the immediate experience of light, color, and atmosphere in this 2 hour session.

Bring your own materials, a small chair, bottle of water, a rag and weather appropriate clothing. And if you're struggling to put that kit together, let us know and we'll happily help.

This class is suitable for adult artists. While tickets are free, there are limited places so please book carefully.

The Geeveston Art Show's Artist Development Programme is proudly sponsored by Bendigo's Community Bank Huon Valley and is run to provide local artists and aspiring artists the chance to explore their passion. We encourage you to head to Community Bank Huonville's Socials and give them a like, for funding this programme!

Anna Arden-Wong will be leading the workshop.

Anna is an accomplished artist based in the Far South of Tasmania, with over a decade of experience working both locally and internationally. She graduated in 2011 from the prestigious St. Petersburg Stieglitz Academy of Art and Design. Since then, she has undertaken a wide range of commissions and personal projects across Europe, Russia, Australia, Turkey, and China.

Since relocating to Tasmania in 2020 with her family, Anna has actively engaged with the local community, drawing inspiration from the region's unique landscapes, history, and native flora. Her artistic practice is marked by a deep passion for sketching and plein air painting, allowing her to capture the raw beauty of the environment in real time. Working predominantly with water-based media, Anna’s technique reflects the fast, dynamic approach of French impressionists. She focuses on the movement of trees, the shifting light of sunsets, and the intricate shapes of native plants, producing works that
evoke the ever-changing, vibrant nature of Tasmania’s Far South.
