    Poets@Stones: Queensland's newest boutique reading series

    The next in our series of curated poetry events is on Thursday 31 October at 6.30pm.

    About Poets@Stones

    Curated by renowned Queensland poet, Brett (B. R.) Dionysius, Poets@Stones is held on the last Thursday of each month, from February through to November, and features readings from three local poets.

    Our featured Poets in October are Phil Brown, Nathan Shepherdson, and Damen O'Brien. 

    Phil Brown is currently editor of InReview, an independent arts outlet. As a journalist and author, he has written for a variety of national and international publications including literary journals such as Meanjin and Griffith Review. He has written a number of books including two “slim volumes” of poetry - Plastic Parables (Metro Community Press, 1991 and An Accident in the Evening (Interactive Press 2001). His most recent book is The Kowloon Kid: A Hong Kong Childhood (Transit Lounge, 2019). His memoir Confessions of a Minor Poet will be published in 2025. 

    Nathan Shepherdson
    is the author of ten books of poetry. He is a sometime collaborator with artists and poets including Pascalle Burton, Sandra Selig, Jonathan McBurnie, and Peter Hudson. His most recent books are axolotl waltz (Puncher & Wattmann) and soft meteorites (Upswell).

    Damen O’Brien
    is a multi-award-winning poet. His prizes include The Moth Poetry Prize, the Newcastle Poetry Prize and the Peter Porter Poetry Prize. His poems have been published in seven countries, nominated for a Pushcart Prize and highly commended in the Forward Prizes for poetry. Damen's latest book is Walking the Boundary, available through Pitt Street Poetry.

    All our events are free to attend, but bookings are required as seats are limited.
