Point Nepean National Park - FORT NEPEAN
Event description
EVENT LEADER - AMANDA!
Kindly note: this walk is designed to promote fitness and does require a moderate level of activity to complete. We keep a steady pace, covering 10 kilometres in just under 3 hours. While it’s not a power walk, you can expect some inclines, steps, and elevation along the way. Please review all event details carefully and ensure you’re comfortable keeping up with the group. If you don’t engage in regular exercise or lead a more sedentary lifestyle, our beginner-friendly “Relaxed Hikes” are a perfect way to get started.
Now, get ready to embark on an exhilarating journey to the very tip of the Mornington Peninsula!
Explore Fort Nepean, a historic stronghold that once safeguarded Melbourne through both World Wars. Set at the dramatic meeting point where Port Phillip’s calm waters collide with the wild Southern Ocean, the fort features an extensive network of tunnels connecting its historic gun emplacements.
Step back in time and imagine life as a soldier stationed here, defending Victoria’s coastline from the 1880s until 1945.
This 10km loop through Point Nepean National Park is the perfect way to stretch your legs, build fitness, and immerse yourself in breathtaking views of Bass Strait.
